We are a small Coulsdon community organisation who collect usable items you no longer want/ need but would like them to be donated, re-used, refurbished or recycled but simply don't have the time or resources to arrange yourself.
We can collect from your home or you can drop to our Coulsdon drop off point.
Most items are donated directly to the most suitable local charities, community based groups and individuals in need.
Items which are unsuitable to be donated directly are sold at carboot sales or online to raise funds for local charities and community projects and cover our minimal running costs. If we can't donate or sell we try to refurbish, re-purpose or recycle. Our ultimate aim is to stop usable items being sent to landfill.
We are proud that our trending stats are roughly 70% donated, 10% sold, 10% refurb or recycle, 10% landfill.
When you donate to doostep clothing collections and put items in clothing bins the items are sold to huge recycling companies who donate an amount per tonne of clothing to the charity. We work differently in that we try to get the items you have donated directly to the people who need them to be re-used. We believe the items donated have more 'value' to people that need them locally rather than the few pennies they are worth when sent to a recycling company.
As we support a wide range of local charities and community groups we can ensure that items are directed to the places were they are most needed at that time.
